Carrara Marble
Overview
Carrara marble is quarried in the Apuan Alps around the town of Carrara in Tuscany, Italy. It has a white to blue-gray background with soft, feathery gray veining. It has been prized since the time of ancient Rome, and Michelangelo carved his David from a single block of marble quarried in the area.
Today it is one of the most widely used marbles in the world, chosen for floors, bathrooms and wall cladding.
